"Waiting" Is my piece of the Scout. , I love how this one came out. This is for the Fantasy Earth Zero Contest. This is my second piece. :] Comment and fav please.
2 days of work, Traditional took me more than 10 hours and Digital part, about 2 hours x.x;
Traditional: -Pencil -sakura inc -Prisma Markers.
Digital :
Phtoshop CS4
I am still a NOOB at PS , even tho i had it for a while. :/ WISH ME LUCK!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I really love the color, design, and anatomy of your piece here. She is someone I totally would not want to mess with. D: Also, the foreground grass is kind of epic, if a bit repetitive. I mean, at least it gets behind the things it needs to be behind, so that's good.
My big complaint is with the obviously-photoshopped trees in the background. They're too bright. They make her look like she's surrounded with an acid cloud. D: Which is unfortunate. They should be a darker, cooler shade of green. Things that are in the background tend towards cooler colors, otherwise they jump forwards too far and are competing with your main focus. And that's what those trees are doing. :\
Other than that, I think this is pretty darn spiffy! Good luck!
Yea i know what you mean on the PS. Dx I still suck at it, im was just experimenting trying to learn a thing or two, i suck at drawing back ground, maybe ill do it by hand next time XD
But thank for the comment you the first person who actually gave me a full detail comment like this, this will make me see what i can fix, Thank again...P.S: Did you fav? XP P.P.S: Did you see the other one i drew for the contest?:3
You're farther ahead than I am. PS scares the pants off me, so I avoid it and stick over here with my traditional media. So don't be so hard on yourself about learning something new. You'll get it. ^^ I really think that if you just darkened those trees up a little, it would mesh soooo much more easily with the rest of what you're going for. Totally don't be afraid to experiment! You've got some good skillz building.
As for the comment itself, I hate seeing 'critique requested' on a piece that piques my interest and then like... no critiques pointing out more precisely what does and doesn't work. D: Plus you put this in #SelfTaughtArtist, where I don't feel like any of us have the right to get uppity if we're given an honest critique. XD; Fair game there, man.
As for 'ing, I didn't, and only because if I 'd everything that caught my eye on dA, I'd have like, seven BILLION favorites, and then how would I find anything without a search function?
I did see your other entry in another set of stacks I watch, but I didn't comment on that one, mostly because I was too busy wincing at the idea of walking on cleats that big. D: I'd be happy to give it a look over, though, if you'd like?
Lol, I don't mind late answers. Sorry you didn't place, though.
The thing of dA is that, if you watch their contest results, it's always some epic, mind-blowing things in the end that place and win. Lineless CG, most of the time, with epic sparkles (which, imo, gets borrrriiiing after a while. e_e; ). >_>;; But I think also that you can take something away from this experience, and that's simple contest experience.
It is frustrating to find out you bled part of your soul into something and weren't recognized for it, though. Good luck next time.
